WHITAKER INTERNATIONAL BURNS PRIZE PALERMO, ITALY FOR 1993 In the course of a meeting held on April 10th 1993 at the seat of the G. Whitaker Foundation, Palermo, after examining the scientific activity in the field of research, teaching, clinical organization, prevention and cooperation among the nations presented by various candidates, in the light of the consideration guiding the analysis of the high level of the candidates, the Adjudicating Committee unanimously decided to award the prize for 1993 to: Prof. Radana Konigova The prize is awarded for the following motivation: "After graduation, Dr. Konigova, with courage and farsightedness, under the guidance of the two most illustrious pioneers in burns surgery, F. Burian and A.B. Wallace, initiated 31 years ago a professional career that still continues. In her long activity she has known how to combine in exemplary fashion scientific research and didactic skill with an intuition for original ideas which she has made concrete in publications and treatises. She has actively participated in numerous national and international Meetings, bringing personal experience of the highest value. Since 1977 she has directed the Prague Burns Center." G. PALERMO (Italy) By law n. 57 of June 14th 1983 the
Sicilian Regional Assembly authorized the President of the Region to grant the Giuseppe
Whitaker Foundation, a non profit making organization under the patronage of the Accademia
dei Lincei with seat in Palermo, an annual contribution for the establishment of the
"G. Whitaker International Burns Prize" aimed at recognizing the activity of the
