THE MANAGEMENT OF COLLABORATIVE EUROPEAN PROGRAMMES
AND PROJECTS IN RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
will be held from 10 to 13 April 1994

The scientific programme includes:
General aspects of the management of interorganisational networks in research, education and training Establishing and sustaining inter-organisational networks, partnerships, concerned actions and sharedcost actions Analyses of experience of EC Programme Management Committees in converting the framework programme into specific programmes Contrasts between European, governmental, institutional and corporate polices and strategies aimed at achieving international collaboration in the chosen fields Conclusions derived from management experience acquired under the aegis of more than one European programme with respect to the possibilities of crossfertilisation and synergy Comparisons of the positive and negative consequences for project coordinators of the aims, guidelines and procedures established under different European programmes Papers which draw attention to - and specifically illustrate - the kinds of management policies, problems, coping strategies, and techniques which have evolved within one programme framework (and/or sectoral or regional context) but which appear to have much wider applicability The advantages and limitations of using project management techniques in the conduct of European collaborative ventures Case-studies of managing the start-up and close-down of European projects, including the application of the results Managing the human, financial, promotional, marketing, political andlor inter-cultural aspects of collaborative projects.
